Welcome New Homeowners
THE WHA Board of Directors welcomes all new residents to the neighborhood. Over the last couple of years there has been a rather significant turnover of property here. Established over 80 years ago, Westwood Highlands, a single-family neighborhood of 283 homes with their front and side yards, rear utility poles, and parking , is one of San Francisco's best-kept secrets. New homeowners should contact Vice-President Charley Leach, vp@westwoodhighlands.org, to obtain a welcome packet that includes a copy of the Covenants, Controls, and Restrictions; as well as a map, coupons to local businesses, and other useful information. Above: very early photo of Westwood Highlands. Where's your house?
Request of Current Homeowners
Please contact the Board, vp@westwoodhighlands.org, if we are not addressing our mailings properly or misspelling your names. Also, if you wish, please advise your email address if you wish to receive newsletters or otherwise be contacted that way.
Westwood Highlands September Dinner a Success
On September 23, 2005, Westwood Highlands held its annual dinner; this time at the newly remodeled Gold Mirror Restaurant on Taraval Street. Richard Brandi, author of San Francisco's West Portal Neighborhoods, treated those that attended to an interesting historical photo presentation.
Westwood Highlands Web site
Thanks again to Westwood Highlands homeowner Jennifer Dees for maintaining our Web site. The site includes dates to remember, newsletter archives, our neighborhood Covenants, Controls, and Restrictions, useful links, historical photos, contacts, and news regarding current issues that involve our area.
Tree-Lined Monterey Blvd. Still Unfinished
Westwood Highlands directors will continue to lobby our supervisor and appropriate city departments to finish the Monterey Blvd median strip. Trees are needed between Ridgewood and Yerba Buena.
Street Cleaning - A Note to Our New Residents
A number of years ago, Westwood Highlands residents voted to turn down street cleaning services provided by the City. This request was so that neighbors would not have to move their cars once a week and worry about getting tickets. Because of this, and in order to keep Westwood Highlands beautiful and our streets clean, we are responsible for cleaning our own sidewalks and gutters, as well as picking up litter in front of our houses and keeping garbage cans out of sight except on collection days. Thank you for keeping our neighborhood beautiful and enjoyable.
